To maintain natural stone the surface should be
protected with a sealer upon completion of manufacture
to guard against stains. It is assumed that as stone
is a permanent material it does not require maintenance
or care. This is not the case and permanent damage
can occur when neglect or incorrect cleaning methods
are used.
Stone is natural and may have adverse reaction to
certain cleaning chemicals and procedures.
Using chemicals not designed for care of natural stone
and sunlight can fade the colour of natural minerals.
Using a good quality mop or cloth with a detergent
free of harsh chemicals mixed with plenty of water
is the best method of regular maintenance.
- Warm soapy water with a soft cloth
- All cleaning products must be Ph neutral
- Dry off your bench tops with a clean soft cloth to
prevent streaking
- Do not use any rough scourers or abrasive products
- Do not use harsh chemicals
- Even though your bench top is sealed, acidic liquids
(orange & lemon juice, vinegar, tomatoes, champagne,
alcohol, coke, toothpaste, perfume, aftershave etc.)
may etch the polish from the stone if left for an excessive
amount of time
- Always clean up spills immediately, sealer will prevent or,
delay liquids from penetrating the stone but does not
guarantee staining
